Patient Success Story

Meet Paul, a three-time stroke survivor, who is the first patient at St. Charles Hospital to have the Vivistim neurostimulation device implanted, in the hope that it will improve his arm and hand function.

Neurosurgeon Dr. Bailey Zampella performed the surgery. At a post-op office visit, Paul was all smiles and shared how grateful he was to Dr. Zampella and her team.

Paul will be doing outpatient rehabilitation at one of Catholic Health Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation locations in Patchogue. He looks forward to regaining function and improving his quality of life! We are cheering you on, Paul!
